6061 T6 Mechanical Properties

6061 T6 is hard aluminum, have features of light, high strength, high production cost, so it is expensive, is the abbreviation of T6 hardening treatment of 6061 aluminum alloy. 6061 t6 mechanical properties has good formability, weldability, machinability, at the same time has moderate strength, good workability is maintained after annealing. Typical uses of 6061 t6 aluminum alloy are aviation fixtures, trucks, towers, boats, pipelines and other architectural applications where strength, weldability and corrosion resistance are required.

6061 t6 mechanical properties

T6 temper of 6061 aluminum alloy is state of artificial aging after solution heat treatment It is suitable for products that are not cold worked after solution heat treatment (straightening and leveling can be carried out, but the mechanical properties will not be affected). 6061 t6 mechanical properties are: elastic modulus 10.0ksi, elongation 12.0%-17.0%, cutting force ksi 30, hardness 95HB, fatigue strength 14ksi, tensile strength 40/45ksi.

Strict process control of aluminum grade 6061-T6 during extrusion is the key to obtaining good mechanical properties. During the production process, due to the limitation of actual conditions, it is often difficult for employees to control the process. Aluminum sheet 6061 t6 manufacturers often do not aware of the importance of the process, the temperature, speed, etc. are not strictly controlled, resulting in unqualified mechanical properties after the product is aged. In the actual production process, the process parameters should be flexibly adjusted according to the cross section of the profile. For example, for some thicker profiles, the rod temperature should be appropriately increased, the extrusion speed should be slowed down, and the cooling speed should be increased to ensure that it can obtain a supersaturated solid solution. In order to achieve the purpose of aging, 6061 t6 mechanical properties are guaranteed.
