Types of aluminium alloys fall on 8 series by compositions, two groups by processing methods and numerous units by application fields.
By composition there are 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000, 5000, 6000, 7000 and 8000 series. 1000 is also called pure aluminium alloy, including 1050, 1060, 1070, 1100 and 1200, featured by low hardness, good corrosion resistance and cheap price. 2000 includes 2024, 2A16(LY16) and 2A02(LY6). It is characterized by high hardness, with the highest content of copper, which is about 3-5%. 3000 includes 3003, 3004, 3005, 3104, 3105, 3a21 etc. Manganese is the main component. The content is between 1.0-1.5, which is a series with better anti-rust function. 4000 is represented by 4a01, containing a high content of silicon (4% to 6%). 5000 includes 5052, 5005, 5083 and 5A05, containing magnesium and featured by low density, good tensile strength and high elongation. 6000 includes 6061, 6082 etc. It is a cold-treated aluminum forged product, suitable for applications with high requirements for corrosion resistance and oxidation. 7000 includes 7005, 7075 etc. It is an aluminum-magnesium-zinc-copper alloy and a heat-treatable alloy. It is a super-hard aluminum alloy with good wear resistance and weldability, but poor corrosion resistance. The more commonly used 8000 series aluminum alloy is 8011, which belongs to other series, and most of the applications are aluminum foil.
By processing methods there are two groups of aluminium alloys: aluminum sheet roll and aluminum profile/bar. The former is obtained by casting and rolling of aluminium ingot billets, sometimes surface treatments are adopted, such as oxidizing, color coating, embossing and so on. The latter is made by extrusion, applied to lights, doors, windows etc. Haomei supplies only the first type.
